RDSE – Responsive Design for Sensitive Environments – is an undergraduate MArch Research unit within the School of Architecture at the University of Dundee. RDSE is concerned with human intervention in sensitive environments, be it within a community or ecosystem.
Any form of construction presents serious and difficult challenges for the designer if the existing balance of the environment and the societies are to be preserved or enhanced. Every year a different context is used to peruse the main research aim of engaging as a group with, and regenerate a community within a sensitive environment, brining together individual research topics. Final year MArch students had worked within RDSE in different countries including Egypt, England, France and Scotland.
